MICHAEL DOLE

Girls and Boys both finished 7th at GMC championships.

The GMC Swim Championships over the weekend witnessed both the Boys and Girls Swim teams securing an impressive 7th place finish. Notably, this marks the first occurrence since 1999 that both teams have achieved such high rankings in the same season, underscoring the ongoing growth of the program under the leadership of Coach Elizabeth Wagner and her dedicated staff.

Junior Hazel Culver emerged as a standout on the girls' side, contributing significantly with 21.5 points towards the team scores. Hazel showcased her skills by clinching 6th place in the 100-yard Breaststroke event and 9th place in the 200-yard Individual Medley. Junior Hannah Robinson added to the team's success with a 7th place finish in the 100-yard Backstroke. Together with Makayla Platt and Nikkollette Cord, Hazel and Hannah formed dynamic relay teams (200-yard Free Relay and 200-yard Medley Relay), securing 8th place in both events. Lyla Roy further bolstered the team's performance with a 7th place finish in the Girls 1-meter diving event.

On the boys' side, divers Jaxon Rogers (6th place) and Devon Adams (7th place) took the lead for the Blue. The 200-yard Free Relay team, featuring Aiden Bell, Will Morner, Connor Hendricks, and Elijah Lay, demonstrated their prowess with an 8th place finish. Additionally, the 400-yard relay team of Bell, Hendricks, Lay, and Jude Yordy secured a commendable 10th place, while the 200-yard Medley Relay team of Bell, Rogers, Hendricks, and Rogers finished 11th.

Looking ahead, Hamilton's swim teams are gearing up for the Sectional Swim meets this weekend. The Boys' team will dive into action on Friday night at Keating Natatorium, while the Girls' team will make a splash in the pool on Saturday at Powel Crosley. We encourage the entire Hamilton community to rally behind our talented swimmers as they continue to strive for excellence in the upcoming meets.

Stay tuned for more exciting updates as Hamilton returns to the water this weekend!
