Student-Athletes of the week 10/7/24
MICHAEL DOLE

Allen, Garvin, Isaacs, and Verdon earn this weeks Wings on Brookwood Student Athlete of the Week

Our fall sports seasons are nearing the end, but our athletes are leaving a definite mark on the GMC. Please join me in congratulating the following Wings on Brookwood Athletes of the Week. Make sure to support Wings on Brookwood. They do so much for our student athletes.

Senior Trey Verdon is a member of the varsity football team. After missing the first 3 weeks of the season due to an injury, Trey has returned and opponents have not been able to stop him on defense. In 4 games he has 25 tackles, 5 sacks and 8.5 tackles for loss. Last Friday against FF, he recorded 11 total tackles, 3.5 for a loss and recovered a fumble. He also has been wreaking havoc on special teams by forcing teams to punt and kick extra points quickly. He has several near misses on blocks. Trey is committed to Iowa State and the Cyclones are getting a great one. He is going to have a great impact on the remaining regular season and postseason.

Senior Belle Allen  is a member of the varsity VB team. Belle is in the top 15 in Kills in the GMC with 122, the top 4 in blocks with 36 and top 20 in service aces with 33. Belle has been a great asset all season as noted in her statistics. Her skills and knowledge of the game have made her a top player for the BIG BLUE team. She has been a 3 year varsity starter and will be missed when this season is over.

Senior Carter Isaacs is a member of the varsity football team. In the last 2 games Carter has recorded 2 interceptions for touchdowns. Against Princeton he ran back a 17 yard interception, and last Friday against FF, he ran back a 55 yard interception. He had 8 solo tackles and 6 more assisted tackles against FF as well. Carter currently ranks in the top 10 in the league in tackles with 53. Carter is enjoying an amazing senior year and is a leader on and off the field. He is committed to play at Gardner Webb next year.

Senior Robert Garvin is a member of our boys cross country team. At the GMC Championships this past weekend, Robert had a career PR, finishing the race at Voice of America in 19:08 seconds.  This is the 16th fastest recorded 5K time in Hamilton High history.  Robert is a senior team captain and displays great leadership through action and words.  We are hopeful he has a great run in the upcoming SW District meet on October 19th.
