Diaz, Kuhlman, Goldsmith, Reed earn this weeks Wings on Brookwood Student-Athletes of the Week
As we are closing out many fall seasons, the BIG BLUE is continuing to impress on the courts and fields. Please join me in congratulating the following Wings on Brookwood Athletes of the Week. Make sure to support Wings on Brookwood. They do so much for our student athletes.
Junior Adrian Diaz is the goalkeeper for the boys varsity soccer team. Adrian has recorded 3 shutouts this season. In a great game against Ross, he had 30 saves securing the 2-1 victory for the Big Blue. His save percentage is 88% and he leads the league in saves this season with 171. He is on pace to break the single season record of saves(223). Adrian has been great in goal all season long and we look forward to more shutouts and great saves this year and next season.
Freshman Emery Kuhlman is a member of the girls golf team and soccer team. Emery recently completed her freshman season of golf at the Sectional tournament. Throughout the year Emery played matches on the boy's teams and competed as an individual in girl's tournaments. Emery had a low round of 48 at the Mill course this year and has shown great potential and skill to be very competitive in the league in the upcoming years. Emery is also a member of the varsity soccer team. We are excited to see Emery improve her game in both sports over the next 3 years.
Senior Gracen Goldsmith is a member of the varsity football team. Gracen scored 3 touchdowns in a huge GMC win against Princeton last Friday. He had 166 yards, including a 66 yard TD run. He also punted 2 times with an average of over 35 yards. Gracen has been nominated for Tri-State Player of the Week for his play versus Princeton. Gracen is currently second in the GMC in rushing yards with 635. We are excited to see how this young man finishes his senior season, and know he will impact the rest of the Big Blue season in a positive way.
Senior Marlon Reed is a member of the varsity football team. Last Friday versus Princeton he had 2 receptions for 39 yards and 4 tackles. Against Oak Hills 2 weeks ago, he had 5 receptions for 52 yards, including a 24 yard touchdown catch. He also had an interception. He is in the top 10 for receiving in the GMC with 234 yards on 20 catches and among the top in interceptions. Marlon has played well on both sides of the ball. He will definitely be an impact player as the Big Blue looks to make a deep postseason run.
