Track and Field with a strong opening meet

Holbrook, Murrell and relay teams pace the Blue 

The Big Blue Track and Field team opened their season last Saturday at the Lane 4 Invitational, hosted by Northwest High School. Both the Boys and Girls squads had solid showings, with the boys placing 4th overall and the girls 5th.

Sophomore Thrower Mason Holbrook made an impactful debut by clinching first place and setting a new meet record with a throw of 45 feet and 5 inches. The boys' 4x100 team, composed of Landyn Pople, Javon McClain, Noah King, and RJ Shepherd, claimed victory with a time of 43.5 seconds, while the 4x200 team, led by RJ Shepherd, Cairon Navey, Quinton Simms, and Mason King, also triumphed with a time of 1:35.24. RJ Shepherd and Javon McClain secured 2nd and 3rd place in the 100-meter dash respectively, while Mason King finished 2nd in the 110 high hurdles and Noah King took 3rd in the High Jump.

Additional contributors for the Boys included Robert Garvin in the 800-meter run (8th place), Noah King (4th) and Landyn Pope (5th) in the 200-meter dash, and Mason Holbrook who finished 4th in the discus event.

On the Girls side, Sophomore Brookely Murrell led the team with a first-place finish in the 200-meter dash (28.73 seconds) and a second-place finish in the Long Jump. Kaylin Washmusth secured third place in the long jump. Both the girls' 4x200 and 4x400 teams finished second, with Jaliyah Steagall adding a third-place finish in the 400-meter dash. Other contributors included Olivia Thompson (8th in the 400-meter dash) and Kaylin Washmuth (6th in the High Jump).

Looking ahead, Hamilton will participate in two meets this week, visiting Ross on Wednesday and Edgewood on Thursday.
