Big Blue Week in Review 9/15

Week in Review (9/15/23)

Football

Our Big Blue football team did a great job of keeping it rolling and securing the WIN last Friday over Oak Hills on their turf.  Trey Verdon had a huge FG block to turn the tide in our favor.  We've had another great week of practice and we are looking forward to competing tonight against Princeton.  This is a big game and we are excited to be in this position.  Again this week we have three of the top five tacklers in the GMC.  CJ Bryant with 44, Gracen Goldsmith has 40, followed by Carter Isaacs with 34.  Wyman Carr and Jailen Morris are still tied for first in the GMC with 2 interceptions with Cournell Bennett-McCoy moving up to the 4th position rushing in the league.

Golf

Very busy week for the Big Blue Golf team this week with four varsity matches. On Monday we hosted the Talawanda Brave at Indian Ridge. Hamilton lost 146-171. Leading the Blue on Monday was Senior Aiden Hoyte with a 39, while sophomores Jude Yordy and Will Baker added a pair of 43s.

Tuesday the Blue traveled to Walden Ponds to take on the Badin Rams. Badin defeated the Blue 168-176. Senior Aiden Hoyte again led the Blue with a 41 and Sophomore Nathan Brandenburg added a 45.

Hamilton traveled to Oak Hills on Wednesday at Nuemann Golf Course. Sophomores Will Baker and Jackson Taylor led the Blue with a 45 and 46, respectively.

Hamilton finished the week out hosting CCS at Indian Ridge on Thursday. Hamilton put together their best round of the year by shooting a score of 167. Senior Aiden Hoyte led the Blue with a 2 over par 38. Senior Brody Baker and Sophomore Jackson Taylor added a pair of 43s and Sophomore Kameron Laboffe shot a 44.

Hamilton will be in action next week hosting Middletown on Monday before competing in the GMC Golf Championships on Tuesday and Wednesday at Walden Ponds.

Girl’s Tennis

The HHS girls’ tennis team started with three new players to the sport this season: Carly Christen, Dani Overbey, and Tori Tolbert. After a couple of weeks of tough matches, the three made great strides in their match against Monroe. Christen and Abby Combs, the only veteran from the middle school squad, displayed incredible tenacity in their match.

Overbey and Tolbert notched some amazing returns and volleys in their duel.

Girls Soccer

Dropped 2 very tough GMC contests this week.  Both games were highly competitive with the Lady Blue falling in both contests.  This coming week the Lady Blue have 3 games, and look to bounce back at Harrison on Monday, Thursday at home against Lakota East, and Saturday away at Fenwick.

Volleyball

The girls volleyball suffered setbacks against Oak Hills 0-3, Lakota west 0-3 and Cincinnati Christian HS 1-3 this week.
