Wings on Brookwood Athlete of the Week, 5/7/24
MICHAEL DOLE

Davis, Oseguera, Pope, and Schappacher earn this weeks Student-Athletes of the week.

Spring sports are quickly winding down. The spring season at HHS has been a good one. We are looking forward to the postseason.

The Big Blue Athletic Department would like to congratulate the following Wings on Brookwood Athletes of the Week:

Asher Oseguera -- Asher, a senior, is a member of the boys volleyball team. Asher had a great regular season for the Big Blue. He was second on the team in kills, and 1st on the team in digs. He had an 85% serving average. In the GMC he was in the top 15 in assists with 64 and the top 20 in service aces with 21. Asher was a great leader and teammate all season.

Emili Schappacher -- Emili, a sophomore, is a member of the softball team. Emili has been awesome for the Big Blue all season. She has recorded 155 strikeouts in 114.2 innings pitched which led the GMC. She had a 2.14 ERA, which was top 4 in the league. Emili also led the league in wins with 12. At the plate she is batting almost .400 which is in the top 30 of the GMC and she ranks in the top 15 in RBI's. Emili is a well rounded softball player, who just keeps getting better.

Peyton Davis -- Peyton, a junior, is a member of the baseball team. In Peyton's last 3 appearances on the mound for the Big Blue, he has only allowed 3 earned runs and 6 hits, while striking out 5. He has pitched in 11 games this season and is third on the team in strikeouts. In an unusual category, called the WHIP(walks plus hits in innings pitched) Peyton has a great 1.355 average, second on the team. The best way to look at this statistic is that Peyton keeps runners off base when he is on the mound. It is great to see Peyton back on the baseball field after taking a year off.

Landyn Pope -- Landyn, a junior, is a member of the track team. At the Blue Heaven home track meet last week, Landyn won the 200M dash and took second in the 100M dash. He was also on the 2nd place finishing 4X100 relay team. At the Ross track meet 2 weeks ago he won the 100M dash. He currently has the 8th best time in the GMC in the 200M dash at 22.88 and his time of 11.02 in the 100M dash is the 4th best in the league. Landyn has cut time all season and should score well at the GMC tourney this week.

These 4 student athletes are great representatives of the BIG BLUE. Please congratulate them on their successes and all they do for Big Blue Athletics.
