Christen, Pope, Schappacher, and Walker earn this week's Wings on Brookwood Student-Athletes of the Week.
Please join me us in recognizing our Wings on Brookwood Athletes of the Week for the BIG BLUE. We are having a great spring due to these athletes.
Luke Walker is a senior on the tennis team. This past weekend, he finished first in his division at the GCTCA Coaches Classic, defeating Valley View and Northwest in first singles. This season, Luke was 2-2 overall at second singles and recorded a league win in first doubles. Luke's dedication to Big Blue tennis has not gone unnoticed. He also participated on the AQT team and was on the golf team as a freshman and sophomore.
Carson Christen is a junior on the tennis team. He finished the regular season 2-1 at first singles overall and picked up a conference win in 1st doubles. Carson has been a leader and extremely flexible, being able to adjust from singles to doubles as needed by the coach. He also holds a 4.1 GPA and is enrolled in mostly CCP courses. We are looking forward to a great senior year for Carson next year.
Emili Schappacher is a junior on the softball team. Emili tossed a no hitter against Sycamore, recording 9 strikeouts in the win. She has recorded 111 strikeouts this season and over 400 in her career. She currently sits 3rd in the GMC in wins, ERA, and strikeouts. On the offensive side of the ball, she is batting .356 with 27 runs, 16 RBI's, and 4 homeruns. Emili is a great leader on the Big Blue team and we look forward to her leadership the rest of this season and into her senior year.
Landyn Pope is a senior on the track team. Landyn picked up right where he left off last year, finishing as the 2024 state runner up in the 4x100 as the lead off runner. This season he has recorded a 10.82 100M dash time, winning the Harrison Invitational. He finished 4th at our Big Blue Heaven track meet, and the 4x100 relay team finished 2nd. He has been a 2 sport athlete for the Big Blue all 4 years.
GO BIG BLUE!!
