Wings on Brookwood Student-Athletes of the week (4/16)

Bennett McCoy, McKinney, Thieken, and Walker named this weeks Wings on Brookwood Student-Athletes of the Week.

Spring sports are back at it after a few rain filled weeks.

The Big Blue Athletic Department would like to congratulate the following Wings on Brookwood Athletes of the Week:

Noah McKinney -- Noah, a junior, is a member of the boys volleyball team. Noah is off to a fast start for the volleyball team. He has recorded 54 kills which puts him in the top 15 on the GMC leaders list. He also has 32 digs and 6 service aces which places him in the top 35 of the GMC in both categories. Noah is a leader on the court who is always encouraging his teammates. We cannot wait to see how high his season totals will get. He improves every match.

Cournell Bennett McCoy -- Cournell, a senior, is a member of the baseball team.  Cournell has had a great week for the Big Blue. He threw a complete game 3 hitter with 10 strikeouts vs league opponent Princeton last week and yesterday vs Sycamore he went 5 innings giving up 3 hits and striking out 5 to help the Blue to another win. He is currently 3rd in the GMC with 35 overall strikeouts. He also has 6 RBI's at the plate. Cournell is a leader on the field and in the dugout for Hamilton and hopefully will continue leading them to a great season overall.

Luke Walker -- Luke, a junior, is a member of the Boys Tennis Team. Luke is a 3 year varsity tennis player. This year he has 2 early wins at first singles. He works hard during the season and in the off season to improve his game. We look for more W's to come as the tennis season progresses.

Reese Thieken -- Reese, a sophomore, is a member of the softball team. Reese made the move from second base last season to shortstop this year. She has a .955 fielding %, with 14 putouts and 7 assists, while only recording 1 error at the busiest position on the infield. At the plate she is batting .444 with 12 hits, 4 doubles, 10 runs scored, 2 home runs and 12 RBI's.  She is currently in the top 10 in RBI's and top 15 in batting average in the GMC. Reese, only a sophomore, is a strong leader on the team. Keep it up Reese. Big Blue is currently in 2nd place in the GMC.

These 4 student athletes are great representatives of the BIG BLUE. Please congratulate them on their successes and all they do for Big Blue Athletics.

Thanks and as always GO BIG BLUE!
