Coomer, Dillard, Holbrook, and Taylor named this weeks Wings on Brookwood Student Athletes of the week.
Please join us in recognizing our Wings on Brookwood Athletes of the Week for the BIG BLUE. We are having a great spring due to these athletes.
Alexis Dillard is a freshman on the softball team, who is off to a blazing start. She is currently batting .467(top 15 in the GMC), is number 1 in home runs with 5, and has 12 RBI's(top 20 in the GMC). Last week she recorded 2 3 hits games, with 5 RBI's and in the field this season has committed only 1 error in 12 games for a .977 fielding %. Alexis can play multiple positions in the field and at the plate she always seems to come up with the big hits at just the right time. Just a freshman, we cannot wait to see what the rest of her career looks like, but for the remainder of the season, we need her to keep leading the BLUE like she has done the first 12 games.
Mason Holbrook is a junior on the track team, who this past Saturday broke the 17 year old school shot put record with a throw of 52 feet 10.5 inches. This distance puts him number one in the GMC at this point in the season. He is also a stellar all league FB player who recently committed to play at Miami University after graduation. Mason is a great representation of a BIG BLUE athlete, who always leads by example on the field and in the classroom.
Chad Taylor is a senior on the baseball team, who has been having a solid year on the mound for the Big Blue. Last Saturday against Talawanda he picked up the win going 3.1 innings giving up only 1 hit and 1 run with 2 strikeouts. He is 3-2 overall, and recorded the first 2 wins of the season this year for Hamilton. He currently has a 2.93 ERA, which puts him in the top 25 in the league and his 3 wins puts him in the top 5. We are looking for Chad to continue his great year on the mound to help the BIG BLUE to many more victories.
Cole Coomer is a senior on the tennis team, who has recorded wins at first and second singles as well as first doubles this year. Cole has stepped in as a senior to play wherever the coach needs him. He is always competitive on the court and is always looking to improve his game. We are hoping that in the upcoming GMC tournament, he can provide some big wins to help the BIG BLUE move up in the rankings. Cole is also ranked in the top 5 in his senior class, making him a true student-athlete.
